I create textile art and collage pieces that often feel as though they have a life of their own — as if we are co-creating, the cloth and needle or paper and paints allowing an ancient myth or dream — the past or future — to emerge before me.
I usually start with a color, image, or the feeling I woke up with. When creating with cloth, I use hand-dyed, antique, and reclaimed fabrics as well as semiprecious stones, metallic threads, and gossamer ribbons. Paper collages blend acrylics, old photographs, the lines of poems, found objects, ephemera, and gifts from nature.
The textural feel of hand stitching provides me with a sense of groundedness. It connects me to my grandmother and other female ancestors before her who hand-sewed clothing and quilts, and embellished their table linens, handkerchiefs, and clothes with embroidery centuries ago in their homeland of Poland.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Jungian Psychology from Sonoma State University, trained in hypnotherapy through the Hypnotherapy Training Institute of Northern California, and am associated with the International Association for the Study of Dreams.
I show my art in San Francisco Bay Area galleries and cafes, and at art festivals, and I provide one-on-one dreamwork sessions and group dreamwork circles on Zoom — opening the door for others to the wisdom and magic emerging through their dreams.
